Among the most important sea-resorts of Calabria we must mention Praia a Mare, Scalea, Diamante, Pizzo and Tropea (visit the Norman cathedral). In the Straits of Messina we can find the Villa San Giovanni and Reggio Calabria , situated in a panoramic position over the Straits and famous for the Bronzes of Riace, two great statues of Greek warriors, dated around the middle of the fifth century b.c., on show at its National Museum.
On the eastern Ionic Coast, we can find sea-side resorts such as Brancaleone Marina, Bovalino Marina, Locri, Marina di Gioiosa Ionica e Roccella Ionica , while the fans of tourist villages will be happy to stay at Cape Rizzuto Island.
For nature lovers we suggest the National Park of Calabria, Pollino (situated partly in the Calabrian territory and partly in the Lucan one) and Aspromonte.
Over the Sila and in the National Park of Aspromonte there are the three skiing resorts of Camigliatello Silano, Lorica and Gambarie , with modern ski-lifts.
The cultural resources of Calabria are evidence of the identity of the Graecia Magna, it is enough to see the ruins of Cape Colonna, Caulonia, Locri and Sibari.
Remarkable are the Norman Byzantine testimonies of Altomonte, Cosenza, Vibo Valentia and Stilo (Byzantine church).
